Project Re-ignite Day 3

I HAVE SANDED IT ALL DOWN! FINALLY!! All the power sanding is complete. Time for this human sanding machine to throw in the towel and pick up the brush for priming next. Well, day 3 wasn’t so bad. I have a safety mask now to not inhale the damn lacquer. Aside from that, the wood is SMOOTH NOW! Kinda happy with the end results with the sanding though I could have done it better =/ Well, its now being left to hang for priming. Gah..I hope all goes well. Especially the finish. Oh, and I’m using the old fretboard for this. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! The cheapest I could find was worth $120! And it could go all the way up to 400 – 500 depending on the wood!

Project Re-Ignite Day 2

Okay, so its day 2 of this project and its sanding. Again. This time I went ahead with sanding down the front of the guitar. I found a drill sander but boy was it terrible. It botched up some of the wood. In the pics bellow, look out for the patches which was left at the end of the day, those were from my mistake of using the drill sander. So, I spent a good 4-5 hours sanding it down. All that’s left is the back and I wouldn’t have to power sand anymore! T__T

Project Re-ignite Day 1

Hey people. I decided to give new life to my first guitar. Partly because its the guitar which got me on my feet as a guitarist and also the fact that I’ll need it in my band as apparently, 2 ibanez guitars are not well suited and a balance needs to be striked. Hence Project Re-ignite.

So, Day 1. There’s nothing much actually. Aside from removing EVERYTHING from the guitar. This includes hardware and removal of the paint. And trust me, the paint was a pain. I could not afford a power sander so I had to make myself the power sander. In the pics bellow, what you see is the end result of the human sander. Really, no tools. Just me and the sandpaper. I’m going to leave the front and back side of the guitar for day 2. And then get the necessary stuff needed to paint it (:
